If you are planning on buying most of your furnishings from a specific store—or even just a few—you should inquire about any free design services they offer. For example, Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn offer free design services, and in many cases will even send a designer out to your home to take measurements. While they do expect that you ultimately make a purchase, it is not required. However, if you know you want a certain piece from a specific store, it can be a great way to get inspiration for the rest of the room.
