1 ART DECO LIVING ROOM

ED A-Lister Steven Gambrel opted for Venetian plaster walls in Benjamin Moore’s Stonington Gray for his Art Deco Chicago apartment. The custom sofa, in a JAB Anstoetz fabric, is by Dune, the 1950s chair is in a Dedar fabric, and the custom armchair is covered in Arabel fabrics. The 1930s orange lacquer-and-shagreen sideboard is French, the 1950s Murano glass table lamp is by Seguso, the 1955 chandelier is by FontanaArte, and the custom rug is by Beauvais.

2 CONNECTICUT RETREAT

Gray grasscloth walls and a custom sofa add texture to a Connecticut living room design by Thom Filicia. The refined space also features lamps by Lucca Studio, a round iron table from Lillian August, a vintage carved wood chair, and a Filicia-designed ottoman upholstered in a Kravet wool.

3 MANHATTAN LOFT

Soft gray walls help to balance the eclectic accents in the living room of Bronson Van Wyck’s New York City loft. The event planner designed the space with architects Ben Bischoff, Oliver Freundlich, and Brian Papa.

4 PENTHOUSE LIVING ROOM

Walls painted in Benjamin Moore’s Cement Gray lend a sophisticated flair to this French-inspired Chicago penthouse living room. Mustard yellow curtains in an Oscar de la Renta fabric for Lee Jofa add pop to the interior.

5 NEW YORK RETREAT

For this timeless living room in the New York City home of Sex and the City creator Darren Star, gray and white tones play up the space's relaxing vibe. Gray seating, including a sleek Zanotta sofa and Cassina chairs, provide balance to the bright white walls.

6 SLEEK GRAY LIVING ROOM

Deep grays give this West Village living room a cocoon-like feel, which makes it perfect for lounging. The space is furnished with a gray custom 1960s-inspired sofa, upholstered in Ralph Lauren silk velvet.

In a Park Slope, Brooklyn, townhouse, gray adds an inviting touch to a living room design featuring a sectional by Living Divani, a side table is by Jean Louis Iratzoki for Retegui, and Italian vintage sconces. The mirror and mantel are original, and the leather Simon Hasan vase is from the Future Perfect. The walls are in Paper White by Benjamin Moore.

9 MIAMI PENTHOUSE LIVING ROOM

A striking Miami penthouse designed by Jean-Louis Deniot features a range of soothing gray tones. The sleek sofa is from Deniot’s collection for Baker in a Martyn Thompson Studio fabric. The pair of 1930s Jindrich Halabala chairs are in a JAB Anstoetz fabric, the vintage glass cocktail table is by Paul Frankl, and the gold side table is by Hervé Van der Straeten.

10 CONTEMPORARY GRAY LIVING ROOM

In a contemporary New York City living room designed by Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson, subdued gray sectional sofas by Avenue Road, which are covered in a Great Plains mohair, take center stage. To complement the sofas, the duo chose a pair of vintage Gio Ponti armchairs from Karl Kemp Antiques, a glass cocktail table by Fredrikson Stallard filled with feathers, a round side table by Holly Hunt Studio, a table lamp by Charles Paris and a custom rug by Tai Ping.
